So I briefly skimmed my last article on this subject and realized that some of my concepts needed updating for my current search. Here's recap of my major goals as stated last time.
I want to put together a kick-ass band for recording and playing shows. I'm not particularly concerned with 'getting signed' because I believe most people who want to get signed are looking at music similar to winning the lottery. I'm much more concerned with making great music than with being swept away and scooped up by a record label.
I have a few dreams and ideas in this area.
- One is to start a recording studio. This doesn't particularly fulfill my dreams of making music, but I definately have a lot of skills necessary to do this, and this is an old dream of mine, I've wanted to start my own studio since I was in college.
- Another is to work with some musicians and bring them up, arranging and producing their stuff, polishing their act and making it professional and bringing them to the point of getting signed, and stepping aside at that time, or producing the album (or just release the album that I produced already).
- Lastly, to put together a band with like minded musicians, musicians who are looking to make some amazing music play shows, record, build up a following and do all the things that being in a band entails, except tour extensively.
These aren't mutually exclusive, and each satisfies a different need - the mathematical/engineering mind would put together a studio, the business mind would run it. My creative self would work on music producing and arranging. Lastly, I would play music for the sheer joy of it. Getting lost in the music.
